The Unarchiver is designed to handle many more formats than Archive Utility, and to better fit in with the design of the Finder. 10.12, 10.13, 10.14 Mojave, 10.15 Catalina, 11.0 Big Sur. You should see another '2.3' folder and another '2.5' folder. The Unarchiver is a much more capable replacement for 'Archive Utility.app', the built-in archive unpacker program in OS X. You need to remove the aliases '2.3' and '2.5'.įrom the 'BTS Yosemite Python Fix', open the 'Framework' folder. There should be 2 folders and 3 aliases here. Navigate to / System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/.

This is regardless if you’re using the latest release, Sierra, macOS High Sierra, Mac OS X El Capitan, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, Snow Leopard, Yosemite, and so forth. You'll need to enter your administration password to do this. The Unarchiver provides support to every release of the Mac OS software that’s in use. In this location you should see two folders called '2.6' and '2.7'.įrom the 'BTS Yosemite Python Fix' folder, copy the folders '2.3' and '2.5' to this location. This is NOT the Library folder in your Home folder. These are taken direct from my installation of 10.9.4 and you may copy them from Mavericks yourself if you prefer. You should have a folder called 'BTS Yosemite Python Fix'. It's free and, in my opinion, an essential Mac utility.ĭownload the necessary files from here.

If you don't already have a way to unpack 7zip I highly recommend getting 'The Unarchiver' from the MacAppStore. Unarchiver is a very popular solution to open all sorts of archive formats on a Mac, it has been discussed here before as an alternate when you need to open and unrar RAR files in Mac OS X as well, and it can basically open any imaginable archive format you may come across whether it’s 7z, zip, sit, tgz, tar, gz, rar, bzip, hqx, and much more, and whether or not it’s arriving from a. I had to use 7zip to pack the files so they be small enough to host on with my sharing service.I don't know if both are needed by BTS, but I thought it best to include both just in case. Both were present in Mavericks but gone from Yosemite. It shouldn't cause any problems, but please be extremely careful and be sure to have your system backed up before trying this. This fix involves making some additions to folders and frameworks located in OS X's System and Library folders.Unfortunately I couldn't find an OS X version of 2.3 on, so instead I copied the relevant folders across from Mavericks. The solution is to reinstall Python 2.3 on Yosemite. This is because Yosemite drops support for Python 2.3, which is needed by Civ4 and it's expansions. The limits below are 64000 soft and 524288 hard in the config – feel free to change these.When you try to launch BTS (or Warlords or Colonization) on OS X Yosemite, it fails with the message "Failed Initializing Python". This file will automatically load after startup and set the max file limits per the Mac OS system. Create a plist file at /Library/LaunchDaemons/ with the following in it below.
