Santa cruz bronson
The Santa Cruz Nomad and Bronson are two premium mountain bikes made by the same company. The type of bike you choose plays an integral role in the pure joy and excitement you experience while riding. For most riders, there is nothing you'd want to change on this bike: it is ready to ride straight out of the box.Īre you the type of rider that ventures deep into the forest looking for hidden gems? Trails on the very edge of what's rideable? Or maybe you just want to go flat out, hit the biggest jumps and style it up? Either way, the Bronson should be near the top of your list.In my experience, no matter how experienced you are as a mountain biker. The frame's low standover height allows for a long drop Rockshox Reverb post and a wide Raceface bar and short stem complete the setup.

SRAM provide the gearing with a GX Eagle 1x12 groupset and matching Code R brakes which means you really don't have to worry about shifting or braking - they'll just work, smoothly, and with minimum fuss. It's big 35mm stanchions and heavy-duty construction add loads of stiffness to the front of the bike which really helps with handling when you need to hold that line in the rough stuff. Matching the rear suspension is a Rockshox Lyrik 160mm fork. Set up tubeless on the 35mm wide Raceface rims, there is plenty of volume in this setup, and plenty of rubber clinging to the trail which allows you to really push hard on the descents.
This version of the Bronson features 27.5 x 2.6" Maxxis rubber, which gives comically high levels of grip.
It's a seriously strong frame, and features internal cable routing (the good kind where internal tubes take the guesswork out of threading cables and hoses) and a threaded bottom bracket for user friendliness and reliability. The Bronson is built not just to survive the odd spill, but thrive on a daily diet of trail abuse. Santa Cruz were one of the first bike manufacturers to roll out carbon to their long travel mountain bikes, and that's because they quickly nailed the techniques needed to make an ultra-strong carbon bike. The frame itself is made fully from carbon fibre. The shock in this model is the excellent Rockshox Super Deluxe Select+ which gives enough tuning options to set the Bronson up for flat-out hammering down enduro trails or for absorbing the big hits and harsh landings of those off-piste tech trails. All together, the suspension gives a bottomless feel to the travel, and compared to single pivot bikes, it handles harsh square edge hits with aplomb. For this year, the Bronson gets the same technology that was developed for the race winning V-10 downhill bike with the shock mounted low in the frame for better weight distribution and kinematics.
This system consists of two counter rotating links which manage to find a balance between stable and efficient pedalling, and plush but supportive suspension.

The heart of all Santa Cruz's full suspension bikes is their iconic VPP style suspension. Fast forward a few years and the Bronson is still the benchmark 27.5" mountain bike whether you're going racing or searching for air time. Faster rolling than 26", more fun than 29". Back in the day when 90% of mountain bikes used a 26" wheel, the Bronson came along with it's 27.5" wheels and turned everything on its head.
